The charming white city of Ostuni, located in considered the culinary hotspot in Puglia. I recently had a chance to travel across Puglia and visit many of the charming towns and explore all sorts of Italian cuisine that thi region of Italy has to offer. Trying new restaurants and sampling different pastas and wine was most definitely the highlights of my trip to Ostuni and across Puglia.

4. Avenida 40 Cafe

Avenida 40 Caféi is a cozy and laid-back spot, offering a variety of coffee, cocktails, and light bites. After wandering through the Old Town and looking for a place to relax, we happened to stumble upon this place in much need of a coffee break. Located near the historic center, it has friendly service and relaxed atmosphere. What I loved the most about this place are the swing chairs just outside, facing the sea. The perfect place if you want to stop for coffee and pastries and take in the surrounding views of Ostuni.

5. Borgo Antico Bistrot

This is a super popular place for a pre dinner apertivo in the charming heart of Ostuni’s historic center. The place offers some of the best views and ambiance. Due to its popularity on TikTok and Instagram, there can be queues in peak evening hours, so best to go early and put your name down. Menu highlights include charcuterie boards, local cheeses, and seasonal appetizers.

6. Ristorante Trattoria Fave e Fogghje

After trying to find a vegetarian friendly dinner spot, we were recommended Fave e Fogghje by our local Airbnb Guide. This place is a traditional Puglian trattoria specializing in local dishes. Their must try dish is the fave e fogghje named after the place (a classic dish made with fava beans and chicory). This is an absolute standout, along with their handmade orecchiette. What I also loved about this place was the buzzing vibe in the evening and the cute interior. A great place to linger for a drink after your meal too!

This place is not technically a restaurant, nonetheless it deserves a spot on any list of places to try in Ostuni. No trip to Puglia or Ostuni is complete without trying their iconic pasty. Famous for its pasticciotti (a traditional Puglian pastry filled with custard) and other baked goods. Sandrino is a beloved bakery in Ostuni, and it’s also known for its creamy artisanal gelato. It’s the perfect spot to enjoy Italian sweets while strolling through town.

Dish Restaurant in Ostuni is a modern and upscale dining destination that pairs innovative Puglian cuisine with stunning panoramic views. We walked past this restaurant on our first day in Ostuni, and absolutely loved the views from the terrace outside. This place is perched in an ideal location, overlooking breathtaking vistas of the whitewashed city and the surrounding countryside. I personally didn’t stay here for sunset but have heard it offers captivating views and atmosphere for a sunset aperitive.

9. Riccardo Caffè

Riccardo Caffè is a well-known bar set in a historic cave in Ostuni’s old town. This place has an intimate, trendy atmosphere and can get busy in peak hours. People come here for primarily for the carefully crafted cocktails. It’s the perfect place for an evening drink, especially at sunset when you can enjoy a relaxed ambiance in the heart of the city. The bar also has a selection of local wines, making it a great spot to unwind after exploring the town.

This list would not be complete without mentioning the best gelateria in Ostuni – Cremeria Alla Scala. This is a charming gelateria in Ostuni, known for its quality gelato made with fresh ingredients. You will find this place tucked away near the steps of the old town. It is known for offering a variety of flavors that highlight the best of local produce. My personal favorites were pistachio, almond, although the seasonal fruit sorbets are also great. It’s the perfect spot to grab a refreshing gelato while strolling through the town’s historic streets.
11. Masseria Il Frantoio

This restaurant is part of a hotel with the same name. This place offers an excellent farm-to-table dining experience set in a historic masseria (farmhouse) and is perfect for a date or an upscale evening out in Ostuni. The restaurant focuses on organic, seasonal dishes made from ingredients grown on the property’s farm. They are also known for their olive oil tastings, homemade pasta with wild herbs, and roast meats.
